Can I Offer You a Drink?

This week I'm excited to be sharing several wonderful recipes from a backyard bridal shower picnic we held last weekend. If you missed the first post, it includes all the main event pictures plus a yummy recipe for Southwest Veggie Wraps. Today, I'm sharing two beverage recipes.

First up, an original strawberry basil lemonade recipe by my talented friend and cousin. This was seriously one of the most refreshing, enjoyable drinks I've ever consumed! Here's how to enjoy:

Strawberry Basil Lemonade

30 cups water
9 cups sugar
8 lemons
2 cups whole strawberries
Handful fresh basil leaves

Heat first three ingredients on medium, stirring for approximately thirty minutes. Turn off heat and let cool to room temperature. Add strawberries and refrigerate until chilled. Add basil leaves just before serving.

Next up, another amazingly refreshing, tasty drink perfect for any summer get together: blueberry green iced tea. I'm not typically a fan of iced teas myself, but this was very light and had a great flavor. This recipe was modified from the original found here. Here's how to enjoy:

Blueberry Green Iced Tea

2 cups frozen blueberries
1 cup sugar
1 cup water
Juice from 1/2 lemon
Green teabags for 1/2 gallon of tea
1 liter coconut water
*additional water to taste

Heat first three ingredients over medium heat until blueberries are thawed. Once thawed, heat to a boil then remove and allow to cool. Stir in lemon juice. While cooling, make green tea per teabag instructions, using coconut water to steep. Add green tea to blueberry mixture and additional water to taste if needed. Chill & serve.
